She is doing her job!  Her first calf, a Boz Redcoat sired black heifer, sold in the Kansas Simmental "Top Cut" Sale for $5,100.00.  Her second calf, a bull sired by HSF Vanderbilt, is for sale at the ranch.  She is bred to calve to Boz Blackmale 10-1-00.  As you may know Blackmale is a Redcoat son and we are really excited about this mating.

Bar B sells Record-setting Bull

Our September 2000 son of SRS Franchise captured the high gaining bull honors at the recent Conners State College Bull Test at Warner, Oklahoma. The polled, purebred, black Simmental bull was out of MGB Miss Irish E536. This outstanding bull calf  was purchased at auction  by Risinger Ranches of Crockett, TX for $ 3250.  Overall there were 108 bulls on test, including 24 Simmental bulls. Conners State College Bull Test has been in operation since 1962 and is the third oldest operating bull test in the United States.

Black J9030 posted very impressive numbers throughout the test. His final test numbers on November 16, 2000 included a weight of 1538 pounds; and average daily gain of 6.21,  an impressive 126% ratio; weight per day of age was 3.57; frame score of 6.1; ribeye area of 18.5 square inches; backfat measurement of .39, and an intramuscular fat score of 2.47. He sets a new all time gain record for all breeds in the Conners  tests!

Gary Harding, bull test supervisor had this to say; "Black is a tremendous meat wagon with lots of growth, capacity, fleshing ability, very muscular and really good on his feet and legs. He combines everything a bull needs to perform in the real world."
